# Worklife Group Philosophy

## Urgency

We use people and the resources of our planet as consumables. The result is needless suffering, human potential gone to waste, fear-based societies, and a trashed planet.​ Something is not working. Rethinking work and the role of organisations is critical to create positive societal change and sustainability for future generations.

## There is a spirit of goodness in all of us

- To bring out the best in ourselves we have to take care of our needs for autonomy, personal growth, nurturing relationships, and our physical and mental health. To bring change to the world ‘out there’, we have to recognise and work on our inner lives.
- To realise our collective potential, we have to grow and improve ourselves throughout our lives, not only as individuals, but in supportive connection with each other.
- To create meaningful and tangible progress, individuals and teams set their own goals, aligned with organisational goals and our vision.

## Organisations are an essential part of positive societal transformation

- To care for future generations, we need a stakeholder integration approach including employees, customers, partners, society, the planet, owners, and networks. We have to align human, economic and planetary needs.
- To create a sustainable future, we work in an iterative learning loop around multi-dimensional sensing, sense-making, and a drive to make things happen.
- To accelerate the change needed we leverage market forces, and outperform traditional businesses on their own terms, like profit.

## Success depends on collaboration at all levels

- To get the best from individuals and teams, we need a clear and actionable direction, with liberating, minimal structures and practices, defaulting to transparency, simplicity and self-organisation.
- To flourish as human beings and to realize our shared mission, we need a warm and playful culture of comradeship, mutual trust and strong accountability to ourselves and our colleagues.

- To create outstanding, sustainable results, leadership must be about connection to self and others, and creating a shared direction before deciding how to make change happen.
